Bournemouth 0-0 Arsenal LIVE updates: Latest Premier League score, news and goals from the Vitality Stadium

38: Close! Welbeck latches onto Lacazette’s pass over the top but lazily drags it straight at Begovic. Xhaka’s corner is then swung in and Mustafi’s header goes just wide of the post.

35: Simon Francis was sent off in this fixture last season, and he’s half-way to repeating the feat! The centre-back is booked for a clumsy challenge on Danny Welbeck. Serves him right for wearing gold boots!

32: I don’t see how anyone could question Jack Wilshere going to Russia this summer. Gareth Southgate is in attendance today and the Arsenal midfielder’s the best player on the pitch.

Alex Iwobi puts a good low ball into the Cherries box but no-one is there to get on the end of it.

29: It sounds like an easy, or even lazy, observation to make with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez absent. But there’s such a lack of quality on display right now. Passes going astray, too slow and devoid of creativity.

26: Sky Sports pundits Jamie Redknapp and Alan Smith are disappointed with Alexandre Lacazette. They feel like he’s not running around enough and that perhaps a goal “off the backside” would help his confidence…

Good thinking, lads.

23: Dan Gosling with perhaps the most needless booking of the season. The Cherries dives in the centre of the park ad collects a yellow card from referee Kevin Friend.

20: That picture above makes it look like Arsene Wenger, who is serving a three-match touchline suspension, has been given a restricted view in the stands. I assure you that he can see just fine.

19: The Cherries are growing in confidence. Ryan Fraser gets in down the left from Nathan Ake’s ball and puts one into the box, but Cech is there to collect. Things opening up now.

16: Sloppy stuff from Arsenal. Maitland-Niles appears to lose concentration and allows Jordon Ibe to intercept. The winger charges forward but plays a hopeless ball back to the Gunners.

13: Anyone worrying that Jack Wilshere wouldn’t be fit after being taken off against Chelsea need NOT worry. He’s moving freely and has started really well. Alex Iwobi tries one from 20-yards, but Begovic palms away for a corner, which is cleared.

10: Woodwork! Ainsley Maitland-Niles is given far too much space inside the penalty area and eventually unleashes a rocket that slams off the bar before flying behind Asmir Begovic’s goal.

9: Simon Francis makes his 250th league appearance for Bournemouth today. And to celebrate he’s wearing golden boots… I can just about abide watching Cristiano Ronaldo wearing gold boots, but a robust centre-half? No chance!

6: Arsenal hit back with an opportunity of their own as Hector Bellerin drives into the Bournemouth penalty area before sending a dinked cross over to Alexandre Lacazette, but Francis makes the crucial interception.

3: The first chance of the afternoon falls to Adam Smith, who dances around Rob Holding before firing narrowly wide.

BOURNEMOUTH 0-0 ARSENAL

1: And we’re off! Arsenal without Mesut Ozil, Alexis Sanchez and have their manager sitting in the stands against a struggling Bournemouth. Call this one if you dare!

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Erik: Today’s Arsenal line-up shows how much we’ve fallen from grace under Arsene Wenger. The squad has zero depth. It’s barely an average starting XI. I fear for Arsenal today in all honestly. Wenger just simply has to go at the end of campaign. Not good enough.

Daniel: Agree entirely with Wenger’s decision to leave Sanchez out of the squad. Just wish this saga would come to a swift ending and we can move on without him. Three points today to get back on track please.

Shaun: Honestly our line-up looks like a Carabao Cup team. Embarrassing. Our squad is poor, our manager inept and our hierarchy insidious. Just get rid of that snake Sanchez. Even Oxlade-Chamberlain played until the end.

ALEXIS WON’T JOIN UNITED…

13:05: Sky Sports pundit and former Manchester City goalkeeper Shay Given has decided to rock the boat this afternoon.

Why you ask? Well, he thinks Alexis Sanchez will join Manchester City if he leaves Arsenal this month, not Manchester United.

They’d only been LIVE five minutes before he dropped that pearl!

Here’s what Given said: “Alexis Sanchez has to look after his family and his best interests, it’s a short career. The news this morning is that Manchester United have sneaked ahead. I don’t believe that, I think if he’s going to any club I think it’s Manchester City.

“I think the relationship he’s had with Pep Guardiola at Barcelona before and the way Manchester City are playing as well, I think that’s the club he’s going to end up at.”

JACK IS BACK

13:00: Great to see the Bournemouth supporter in the picture above getting his money’s worth. One of only two fixtures he’s able to wear it…

Anyway, Wilshere has shaken off an ankle injury and makes today’s starting XI.

The 26-year-old played 27 Premier League games on loan at Bournemouth last term, and Cherries boss Eddie Howe hailed the playmaking midfielder’s impact on the south coast.

Howe believes Wilshere now has every chance of making England’s World Cup ranks in Russia this summer, provided he stays clear of injury.

“Absolutely, I don’t see why Jack Wilshere cannot make that squad,” said Howe.

“I’m sure it’s a target for Jack, and the way he’s played I don’t see any reason why he won’t be a huge player in (England manager) Gareth Southgate’s mind. I’m sure Jack will get a warm reception here. He was very popular in our dressing room and he did very well for us.”

NEVER WIN WITH KIDS…

12:55: Arsene Wenger has named his youngest Arsenal starting line-up in the Premier League since November 2012 against Aston Villa. Oh, they drew that 0-0…

TWITTER ROUND-UP

Paul: Alexis Sanchez is the ideal replacement for Philippe Coutinho – wages might be tipping point though. He will probably end up at a desperate Manchester United as he is money-oriented!

Rob: Alexis Sanchez may see Pep Guardiola as a manager who can take him to the next level. Pep has proved this season that he can make great players even better.

Doug: I would love Sanchez to come to Man United but I don’t see it happening. I just think we’re being used by his agent to get more money out of City.

WHERE’S ALEXIS?

12:45: Nope, we’re not playing the lesser-known Chilean version of Where’s Wally

OK, no more terrible jokes. This is serious stuff.

Arsene Wenger has just been quizzed on the whereabouts of Alexis Sanchez, and why he’s been omitted from the squad.

The Frenchman said: “He’s been vague at the moment, his situation is not decided one way or the other so I left him at home.”

Asked if a resolution was fairly imminent, Wenger responded: “Yes, but don’t read too much into it because even I don’t know what way it will go. You want to focus on the players who are on the pitch who can do well for the club.”

TEAM NEWS – BOURNEMOUTH

12:40: Eddie Howe has made three changes from the side who drew with Brighton.

Nathan Ake, Dan Gosling and Ryan Fraser replace Marc Pugh and Benik Afobe, who drop to the bench. No Junior Stanislas or Josh King despite a return to training.

It looks like Bournemouth will be playing with three at the back to match Arsenal’s formation.

TEAM NEWS – ARSENAL

12:35: Arsene Wenger has made one change from the side who drew with Chelsea on Wednesday as Petr Cech replaces David Ospina between the sticks.

As previously mentioned (a million times) Alexis Sanchez isn’t in today’s squad. Presumably he’s consulting his dogs on whether they approve of the ‘walkies’ up in the north west.
