Conor McGregor eyeing a summer return to the Octagon
Conor McGregor doesn’t plan on returning to the UFC until August at the earliest, according to the promotion’s president Dana White.
“I don’t think Conor wants to fight until August,” White told Yahoo Sports’ Kevin Iole.
“If he waits until August or September, that’s around two years since the belt has been defended and that can’t happen.”
T.J. Dillashaw still keen on fighting Demetrious Johnson
UFC men’s bantamweight champion T.J. Dillashaw has reiterated his eagerness to drop down to 125lbs for a super-fight with men’s flyweight king Demetrious Johnson.
“I’m looking to come in and dethrone him from his legacy,” Dillashaw said told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “He won’t be able to call himself the ‘GOAT’ anymore.
”It’s so easy for him to continue calling himself that and take the fights he thinks are a little easier. He’s a cerebral fighter.
“He and his coach are smart guys, and they know I bring the greatest threat. I think he knows that’s going to be a tough one for him to win.”
Tyron Woodley pours cold water on Colby Covington fight
UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley has once again dismissed the possibility of him granting Colby Covington a title shot.
“I’m looking forward to fighting people who their brands are larger than mine. I’m not looking to bring somebody up,” Woodley told MMA Fighting’s Marc Raimondi.
“I’m in a position where I did that already. I’ve already sought out to fight the guy with a brand, so that I could project myself and bring myself up.
“I’m just not interested in promoting other people, man. I worked so hard to self-promote myself. I don’t have no agent. I’m out there in these streets and I’m hustling.
“Until someone can show me they’re doing the same thing or truly deserve the No. 1 contender, I’m good.”
