Jose Mourinho branded his Manchester United players “childish” after they threw away victory at Leicester City.
United looked all set to claim three points at the King Power Stadium as they led 2-1 with 90 minutes on the clock against a Foxes side who had been reduced to ten men following the sending off of Daniel Amartey.
It was the second time in a week United had conceded in injury time, having been dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Bristol City on Wednesday night, and Mourinho was fuming that they failed to close out the game against Leicester.
“We didn’t win because we missed incredible chances. I would say joke chances,” he said.
“We made a big defensive accumulation of mistakes in an easy match to win.
“I talked to the players at half time when it was 1-1 that it was an easy match to win.
“The reality is that it is 2-2. Sometimes you make mistakes and are not punished by that.
“We were punished by our mistakes. It was an easy match to win, we did everything to win but when you lose big chances.
“Childish loss of possession, so easy. Childish in their box and childish in our box. We were punished in two points.”
